Visually, our final trends for AW 2020/21 couldn’t be more different. The first, Dome is a retrofuturistic dream of escape, while the second, Gorge is all ebullient maximalism. On closer inspection though, both of these trends have much in common; an indirect response to climate change, the escalation of global conflict and a rise in protectionism.

On the surface

Many of the ideas behind both trends are being effectively expressed in surface design; hence our dedicated focus replacing for just this issue our regular Colour Now early adopters’ section. 

Trend trajectory

We also introduce a new series, Trend trajectories, charting the development of certain ever-popular motifs over the centuries, starting in this issue with the pineapple.

Spotlight on gifting

Our trade spotlight this issue is a six page insight into gifting trends featuring Spring Fair, Maison & Objet and Top Drawer. And finally, we bring you a selection sourced from the Colour Hive team called We personally… encapsulating things we love and want to share.
