Faye Toogood’s WOMANIFESTO! at Maison & Objet 2025. Earthy neutrals, raw materials and a sculptural approach to design.
Women in design was a major focus at the January 2025 edition of Maison&Objet, highlighting the ongoing gender imbalance in the industry. Designer of the Year Faye Toogood presented Womanifesto!, a retrospective of her studio’s work. Set within a three-part tent-like structure, the installation explored her creative process through drawing, sculpture and material exploration.
Soft, rounded forms and a palette of earthy neutrals defined the space, creating a cocoon-like environment. Toogood’s work celebrates honest materials; paper, clay, rope and canvas, with an instinctive approach to texture and form.

Colour plays a subtle but deliberate role in her practice, often appearing in chalky whites, earthy ochres and deep red-browns, echoing the natural tones of the materials she works with.
Signature designs such as the Roly-Poly armchair underscored her commitment to comfort and warmth, qualities still too often overlooked in male-centric contemporary design. The installation presented Toogood’s vision as one that is deeply personal, yet widely influential, shaping a more sensitive and intuitive approach to materials and form.
