Retroflow Analysis: Pale Stone

A Grounding Neutral – Pale Stone

A Grounding Neutral - Pale Stone

An essential, timeless and grounding neutral, there is always a place for pale stone in classic palettes. The colour sits comfortably this year with browner tones that develop slowly into 2019 and beyond. By early 2020, we are predicting a little more green added to the mix, but stone needs only tiny tonal tweaks to stay relevant.

This is a colour popular across the board. At Swedese, pale stone is used for upholstery, combined with pale wood, for designs including Mino easy chair and stool along with Mino with casters, all designed by Thomas Sandell.

The colour even works well for bookshelves as seen with Molteni &C’s 505 bookshelves, designed by Nicola Gallizia. And finally Carl Hansen & Søn’s classic PK1 dining chair, designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1955, looks highly contemporary in stone.
