MIX Magazine never misses a chance to visit this showcase for Scandinavian design, held from 6-10 February. The current edition sees a simplification of the layout of the halls with three main sectors; public environment and design, contract, home and lighting, and Greenhouse, the show’s dedicated hall for up and coming designers.
This year’s Greenhouse will feature The Whole Elements, TIEL, Studio Mutant, Anton Karlsson and Ryu Kozeki, among others, with in total 39 designers or design teams and 27 design schools from 17 countries participating. It’s also worth heading to the Victoria Hall for the co-located Design Bar and Stockholm Design and Architecture Talks. The bar’s design this year is by Luca Nichetto in collaboration with Lina Ahlin, chef at the restaurant Agrikultur in Stockholm. Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks, the fair’s forum for knowledge and discussion, has been extended from four to five days and this year’s guest of honour, Italian designer Paola Navone, will be responsible for an installation at the fair’s entrance. And don’t forget that the city of Stockholm also throws open its doors from 5-11 February to celebrate Stockholm Design Week with a whole raft of special events and show room openings.
