Colour in context, May 2014: Cherub

For Autumn/Winter 2014, our colour trend story Blush is about softness and delicacy, presented through a palette that mixes soft pinks and foundation powder neutrals with dark burgundies and charcoal greys.

In particular Cherub pink is a sophisticated and luxurious shade, equally appealing to men and women as it abandons its traditional associations with femininity.

The Blush palette was prevalent at the ever influential Moroso stand at last month’s Milan Furniture Fair with both Patricia Urquiola and Giorgia Zanellato & Daniele Bortotto’s Serenissima collection featuring shades of pink. Of course these colours work perfectly for soft furnishings, small accessories, cosmetics and textiles, but interestingly pinks are also being incorporated into wood colour washes for hard furniture, a testament to the future staying power of pink.
